Set
in lush tropical gardens among the ruins of a 17th Century
sugar plantation, the twenty-three room Sugar Mill Hotel offers
a unique blend of island informality and romantic charm. The
hotel is on the west side of Tortola near Apple Bay.
There are three restaurants and bars, a freshwater swimming
pool, an art gallery and gift shop, and a white sandy beach
with great snorkeling. Sugar Mill is a favorite place for
honeymoons because of the quiet location, beautiful surroundings,
personalized service and gourmet dining. The main dining room
of the Sugar Mill Hotel was once the boiling house for a rum
distillery. The beach side restaurant serves drinks and lunches,
and the breakfast dining room has ocean views.
All
rooms and suites at the Sugar Mill are air conditioned, have
private baths with hair dryers, and are equipped with a refrigerator,
coffee maker, telephone, and computer internet access.
Deluxe
Rooms (450 sq ft) have a kitchenette, bedroom with
king bed, a living room, and balcony with ocean views. There
are no televisions in Deluxe Rooms.
Pool Suites (500 sq ft) have a breakfast bar kitchenette,
sitting area with queen sofa sleeper and cable television.
The large balcony has a ceiling fan, patio furniture and partial
ocean views.
The
Plantation House Suites (1,100 sq ft) have two
bedrooms and baths, kitchenette, covered patio or balcony,
hammock on the deck, and ocean views. The living room area
has cable television and VCR. The master bedroom has king
bed, second bedroom one king or two twin beds, and each bathroom
has double sinks and hair dryer. The second bedroom has a
refrigerator, coffee maker, and sitting area.
