The Caribbean Explorer II, a 106 ft. motorized live-aboard
ship that holds sixteen passengers, cruises from Georgetown,
Exuma. The vessel embarks Saturday afternoons after all guests
have arrived.
Dive sites
range from 20 to 130 ft. deep, with an abundant variety of
corals, fish, and marine life. Five dives daily, including
night dives, provide opportunities to observe, explore, and
photograph a pristine area. Water temperatures range from
76-85 degrees, and visibility is generally between 75 and
150 ft.
Passengers can choose from both NAUI and PADI advance and
specialty programs. Seminars on underwater photography, camera
repair, and diving physiology are offered on specific weeks.
Classes on marine life identification and underwater modeling
are also available.
The ship
offers full service photo and video departments, including
instruction, rentals, and E-6 film processing. Guests may
view their video footage on one of the on-board monitors,
and slides are easily viewed on large light tables installed
in the main salon. Most dive-related equipment, including
regulators, BC's, dive computers, underwater lights and underwater
photo/video equipment, is available for rent on board.
The main
level salon includes the galley, dining tables, television,
VCR, and a CD/DVD video library.
All interior
areas of the vessel are air conditioned. Aft of the cabins
is an open air salon with comfortable seating and wet bar.
The open rear deck is furnished with lounges for sunbathing.
Meals are delicious with made to order breakfast, freshly
prepared between-dive snacks, hot buffet or barbecue lunches
and full sit down dinners. A selection of beverages is always
available.
Four spacious
cabins are furnished with a queen bed, sink, vanity, large
windows, and private bath with shower.
Other cabins have one double bed or two twin beds,
a private sink and vanity, and a shared bathroom and shower.

These
US$ rates are per person, sharing a double cabin for
a seven night/eight day cruise. Included are three meals
daily and snacks; five dives daily; use of tanks, weights
and belts; all alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages;
port and immigration fees.
Extra charges are: Airfare; transfers from the airport
to the ship; Friday evening dinner; rental, instruction
and retail charges; crew gratuities; departure taxes,
Bahamas Port tax, and fuel surcharges. Port taxes
of US$ 85 and fuel surcharge of US$ 100 per person
are extra charges. The fuel, taxes and fees may increase
or decrease with 30 days notice.
Singles pay 150% of the per person
double rate.
